Overview of Taxotere Mass Tort Litigation
Taxotere, a chemotherapy drug used primarily in breast cancer treatment, has been the subject of mass tort litigation due to its serious side effects. Manufactured by Sanofi, Taxotere (docetaxel) has been linked to permanent, disfiguring hair loss (alopecia) and significant vision damage, including watery eyes (epiphora) caused by canalicular stenosis, a condition affecting the tear ducts. As of 2023, there are over 14,000 lawsuits filed against Sanofi for failing to adequately warn patients and doctors about these risks. Notably, Sanofi has been accused of marketing Taxotere as more effective than other chemotherapy drugs, despite the availability of equally effective alternatives without these severe side effects.
